Albania’s tourism sector has had a successful year in 2024, contributing significantly to the country’s economy. Foreign visitors from around the world have flocked to Albania, with the largest groups coming from Kosovo and Italy, together accounting for nearly half of all arrivals.
Data from the National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) shows that Kosovo and Italy have led the way in visitor numbers, with 39% of tourists coming from Kosovo. Other notable contributors include North Macedonia (7.1%), Montenegro (5.5%), Serbia (1%), and Bosnia and Herzegovina (0.5%).
Tourist spending has also reached new heights, with a record €3.1 billion spent between April and September 2024, according to the Bank of Albania. Visitors from Kosovo are estimated to have spent around €1.2 billion, while those from North Macedonia spent €217.7 million. Tourists from Montenegro, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina spent a combined total of €214.6 million.
From January to November 2024, approximately 5.9 million tourists entered Albania, with the biggest increases in arrivals from Serbia (up by 22.1%) and North Macedonia (up by 21%).
