Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic broke his silence on Tuesday after Prime Minister Miloš Vucevic’s sudden resignation. Vucic called out violence at protests and praised the government’s handling of student demands.
He revealed that SNS headquarters was attacked overnight and said the situation turned ugly when members chased down suspects, leaving a young woman injured. “This is totally unacceptable,” Vucic said, slamming the opposition for causing chaos. “Serbia cannot accept actions that break peace and dialogue.”
Vucic also backed Vucevic’s resignation as a “responsible” move, adding that it showed putting principles above power. He confirmed a new government will be formed in the next 30 days, or snap elections will follow.
The president called for peace and unity, saying, “Serbia needs stability, not more conflict.”
