TIRANA, JAN 31 – Albania is ramping up its security as PM Edi Rama and Interior Minister Ervin Hoxha unveil a major new survey on public safety and trust in the police.
The poll, funded by Sweden, shows 82% of citizens feel safe in their neighborhoods – a win for the State Police, says Rama.
“The only stable state is one where everyone is equal before the law,” Rama said. “This progress is thanks to our hard work and EU negotiations. But the job’s not done – we face the ongoing challenge of keeping that equality strong.”
The PM also announced a huge upgrade in city surveillance, with cameras set to monitor traffic violations and other crimes in 20 cities. The new system, powered by cutting-edge tech, will be controlled in dedicated monitoring rooms.
“Get ready for a massive transformation in city security,” Rama declared.
