Sali Berisha is calling on Donald Trump to lift his “non grata” status now that the former president is back in the White House. The Democratic Party leader slammed the decision, which was made during the previous administration, as a political attack on Albania’s opposition and promised to seek its reversal.
Ahead of upcoming elections, Berisha urged party unity but reiterated that Lulzim Basha remains unwelcome in the party. He also targeted Taulant Balla, accusing him of corruption and ties to a criminal case.
Berisha emphasized the need for Albanian citizens abroad to be able to vote using foreign-issued biometric documents, despite a recent agreement on diaspora voting.
Earlier, Berisha visited Albania’s Special Prosecution (SPAK) under a legal obligation, where he labeled the institution a “criminal organization” before outlining his health plan, inspired by Germany’s system.
