TIRANA, JAN 30 – Albania bids farewell to its Archbishop, Anastasios Yanulatos, today as his funeral takes place at the “Resurrection of Christ” Cathedral. In line with his wishes, the Archbishop will be laid to rest in the cathedral’s crypt.
The funeral ceremony, set for 11:00 AM, will be preceded by a memorial service led by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the global leader of the Orthodox Church.
High-ranking officials from Albania and around the world, including Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, will attend, alongside diplomats and religious leaders. A Vatican delegation, headed by Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, is also expected, along with prominent religious figures from Israel, Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, and Poland.
Following Patriarch Bartholomew’s address, Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama and Mitsotakis will offer their tributes to the late Archbishop.
