Sali Berisha, leader of Albania’s Democratic Party, is calling for a major protest on December 23. He described the planned event as the largest civil disobedience Tirana has ever seen, urging his supporters to mobilize.
“We will hold the strongest civil disobedience Tirana has witnessed on December 23 at 5:00 PM. The city will be fully blocked from all directions,” Berisha said at the National Council meeting, his first in nearly a year.
During his address, Berisha also criticized Prime Minister Edi Rama and Mayor Erion Veliaj, accusing them of using the justice system to attack each other. He claimed both leaders are locked in a battle, using legal tactics to discredit one another.
Looking ahead, Berisha emphasized the importance of preparing for the upcoming elections. He announced plans to begin a nationwide tour, which will also include meetings with the Albanian diaspora.
