The leader of Albania’s Democratic Party is backing a protest planned for December 6 outside the Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK). The protest, organized by the Freedom Party, aims to challenge the government’s actions, which they describe as dictatorial.
Speaking to the media, the opposition leader confirmed his support for the protest but did not say whether he would attend in person.
“I support every protest against dictatorship, wherever it takes place,” he said. “Albanian people will soon learn what this government represents.”
The protest is aimed at opposing controversial government appointments, including police chiefs, with the opposition claiming they are causing serious scandals.
The leader also announced he will return to Parliament on December 3 after being absent due to house arrest, a measure that was recently lifted. The session will focus on the 2025 budget.
“We will continue our fight for democracy,” he added. “These actions were a direct attack on our freedoms, but we will not give up.”
His return to Parliament is seen as a significant move in the ongoing political struggle in Albania.
