Albania has experienced significant growth in both passenger numbers and flights, according to recent data.
“Mother Teresa” International Airport recorded 9.3 million passengers between January and October, reflecting a 54% increase from last year. In October alone, about 936,000 passengers flew, a rise of 48%.
The number of commercial flights also grew, with 58,000 flights in 2024 so far, marking a 46.6% increase from 2023, according to Eurostat. This places Albania second in Europe for flight growth, just behind Iceland.
While the European Union saw a 6% rise in flights, neighboring countries like Montenegro (15.6%), North Macedonia (10.6%), and Serbia (9.1%) recorded smaller increases.
Albania’s rising popularity as a tourist destination is driven by its beaches, affordability, and scenic views. The tourism sector continues to grow and shows strong potential for the future.
