Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Albania reached €412 million in 2024, despite a slight dip between July and September, according to the Bank of Albania.
In the third quarter, FDI flows were mainly directed to real estate (20%) and the financial intermediation sector (19%). Investments in hydrocarbons and energy accounted for 14% and 11%, respectively.
Real estate remains the largest driver of FDI growth, with €263 million invested in the first nine months of 2024, an 18.5% increase from the previous year.
From January to September, total FDI in Albania reached €1.16 billion, up 6.6% compared to the same period in 2023. Reinvested profits also grew by 15%, totaling €233 million in Q3. Reinvested profits represented 57% of the total FDI inflows, while new capital injections stood at €178 million.
