Albania has unveiled a state-of-the-art cybersecurity laboratory designed to bolster its digital defences and train experts to tackle global cyber challenges.
The National Cybersecurity Authority (AKSK) announced the launch on social media, calling it a “revolutionary step” for the region. The facility features cutting-edge tools, including a “Cyber Escape Room” and advanced simulation environments for training teams in handling digital threats.
Igli Tafa, head of AKSK, said the lab is critical to Albania’s digital transformation. “This modern facility, on par with those in countries like the US and Israel, will serve as a key training centre for public and private sector professionals. It will also be open to universities, vocational schools, and high schools to nurture future talent,” Tafa explained.
The laboratory will focus on practical training using IT and operational technology (OT), helping Albania strengthen its critical infrastructure and address the growing complexity of global cyber threats.
With digitalisation high on the country’s agenda, experts say this initiative sets a new benchmark for cybersecurity in the region and positions Albania as a leader in digital innovation.
