Albania has set an ambitious goal to join the European Union by 2030, with officials pledging to fast-track the negotiation process.
Foreign Minister Igli Hasani described 2024 as a breakthrough year, highlighting Albania’s progress in EU talks. Speaking at a year-end briefing in Tirana, Hasani hailed the opening of the first negotiation chapter during meetings in Luxembourg this October.
“This marks a turning point,” he said. “We’re aiming to open all chapters next year and complete negotiations by 2027.”
The roadmap, Hasani added, reflects Albania’s determination to join the EU within the decade. “Diplomacy will be at the heart of this effort, working closely with EU member states to ensure steady progress,” he said.
The country’s role in the Berlin Process was also praised, with Hasani noting that regional stability and cooperation remain key priorities for Albania as it moves closer to the EU fold.
