Turkey’s diplomatic missions in North Macedonia, Albania, and Kosovo hosted commemorative ceremonies to mark the 86th anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s passing, celebrating his enduring legacy as the founder of the Turkish Republic.
At the Turkish embassy in Skopje, Turkey’s ambassador to North Macedonia, Fatih Ulusoy, was joined by local officials, Turkish MPs, and other dignitaries. The ceremony began with a moment of silence on Sunday at 09:05, marking the exact time of Atatürk’s passing, followed by the Turkish national anthem. Third Secretary at the embassy, ?rem Nur Ta?er, reflected on Atatürk’s global influence, noting that his principles continue to guide not only Turkey but also international leaders.
“We honor Atatürk’s vision and strive to strengthen our country’s role in the global community,” Ta?er said. “His legacy remains our guiding light.”
Ceremonies were similarly held at the Turkish embassy in Pristina, where Turkey’s ambassador to Kosovo, Sabri Tunç Ang?l?, praised Atatürk as a leader who revived the Turkish nation. The Kosovo ceremony was attended by local officials, members of the Turkish-Kosovar community, and representatives from KFOR.
“Atatürk’s spirit lives on in the heart of the Turkish people,” Ambassador Ang?l? remarked, emphasizing the importance of Turkey’s independence as a cornerstone of the nation.
The ceremonies concluded with flowers being placed at Atatürk statues, honoring his lasting memory across the region.
