Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama claimed during a visit to London that Albanians in the United Kingdom have contributed more to the country than they have received in return.
Speaking to a crowd of Albanian expatriates, Rama described their achievements in Britain as a source of national pride for Albania, which he said was gaining respect across Europe.
“Your successes in art, science, and business make Albania proud,” Rama said. “In Britain, Albanians work in hospitals, construction, agriculture, and academic fields. Many have built thriving businesses after years of hard work and sacrifice.”
Rama praised the community for excelling in areas such as fashion and the arts while calling for greater recognition from the UK. “Albanians deserve only gratitude from this country,” he added.
He highlighted how Albania and its diaspora had overcome past challenges, urging the community to strengthen ties with their homeland. “Today, Albania grows stronger each day. You, Albanians of the free world, can and should give more back to Albania,” Rama said.
The visit comes amid ongoing discussions about Albanian migration to the UK, a topic that has sparked political debate in recent years.
