Inflation in Albania has fallen to its lowest point in three years, with the rate for October measured at 1.9%, according to the latest data from the Institute of Statistics.
While the overall inflation rate shows a decrease compared to previous years, food prices continue to climb, though at a slower pace than in recent years. Prices for vegetables, including potatoes, rose notably, up by 8.3%, followed by fish at 4.0%, and meat at 3.9%. Dairy products (milk, cheese, eggs) and sweets also saw price increases.
However, other categories saw more modest changes. The “rent, water, and fuel” group contributed to a smaller price increase of 0.23%, partly due to the return of university students. Additionally, prices for furniture, household appliances, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and entertainment also ticked up.
Hotels, bars, and restaurants experienced the smallest impact on price rises, reflecting the decline in the number of tourists during the period.
On the other hand, the continued decline in fuel prices has helped reduce inflation in recent months.
Looking ahead, inflation will play a key role in pension adjustments and wage indexing in 2026. For consumers, the current inflation levels also bring some relief to those with bank loans.
