The Ministry of Agriculture is planning a gradual increase in the number of farmers receiving fuel subsidies, with significant expansions starting in 2025.
Around 31,500 farmers are expected to benefit from the fuel subsidy programme in 2024 and 2025, with the number of beneficiaries increasing by 1,000 each year. By 2027, the scheme aims to reach 33,000 farmers.
The programme, which supports agricultural mechanization, has already seen 54,255 applications, with 23,190 approved in the first phase—about half of all applicants. Farmers with land up to 24.7 acres will receive full subsidy coverage, while those with larger plots will receive 50% of the subsidy.
This year, the distribution method has shifted from cards to direct bank transfers, streamlining the process. Additionally, the Ministry is negotiating with commercial banks to offer lower-fee accounts for subsidy recipients.
The Fier region, known for its agricultural output, leads in the number of applicants and beneficiaries, followed by Korça, Berat, Shkodra, Elbasan, and Vlorë.
