Albania is making big changes to its employment programmes, hoping to boost job prospects for those struggling to find work.
The government’s National Reform Agenda 2024-2027 will target vulnerable groups, including people on economic aid, long-term unemployed individuals, and those with little or no formal education.
By 2026, they aim to get 8% of registered job seekers enrolled in active programmes and have 60% of the unemployed registered with job offices. They also plan to get 20% into vocational training.
“We’re offering tailored support to help people find lasting work,” the government said.
In 2023, 76,580 job seekers were registered, including 26,909 receiving economic aid and 1,607 with disabilities. Over 10,000 benefited from active labour market programmes, with 7,000 of them in vocational training.
The reforms are part of Albania’s wider drive to align with EU employment standards as it works towards EU membership.
