Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced that Albania will sign a final agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by December to introduce a new school security programme. The plan will bring digital surveillance into classrooms, corridors, and entryways to enhance safety across Albanian schools.
Speaking at a meeting with parents at Janaq Kilica high school, Rama highlighted the success of a similar programme in the UAE, where constant digital monitoring has improved safety and changed school dynamics.
“Digital monitoring has completely transformed how schools operate,” Rama said. “It’s not just about keeping track – it’s about creating a safer and more responsible school environment.”
The programme is expected to help reduce bullying by making students more aware of their actions under constant surveillance. Rama also assured parents that strict protocols would be in place to protect privacy.
“The technology we’re using isn’t a problem; it’s an opportunity to solve issues we couldn’t have tackled before,” Rama added, stressing the potential of technology to improve safety and discipline in schools.
The government’s aim is to make schools safer while encouraging responsible technology use among students.
