Oct 2, 2024 — Top Socialist official Blendi Klosi condemned the violent protests that erupted in parliament two days ago, where opposition MPs burned chairs in response to the imprisonment of Ervin Salianji, a senior official from the Democratic Party. Klosi labeled the actions a “criminal act” and a form of vandalism that threatens state property and public safety.
“The behavior of the opposition cannot be deemed political,” Klosi stated during an assembly meeting in Shkodër. He emphasized that the violent episode has damaged the credibility of the opposition and undermined democratic processes.
Meanwhile, the ruling party official expressed concern for the safety of parliament officials, indicating that such actions pose a threat not only to MPs and other personnel in parliament but also to the integrity of democratic dialogue in Albania.
