Oct 16, 2024 – UEFA has fined Albania €41,250 following a series of incidents involving fan misconduct during their Nations League match against Georgia. The fine comes after Albanian supporters booed and whistled during the Georgian national anthem, blocked stairways at Air Albania Stadium, and threw objects onto the pitch.
The violations occurred during the match held in Tirana, which Georgia won 1-0. UEFA’s disciplinary body found the actions of Albanian fans in breach of the organization’s regulations on respecting national anthems and maintaining orderly conduct in stadiums.
Albania’s national team has faced growing scrutiny over fan behavior in recent years, and this penalty adds to concerns about crowd control during international fixtures. The Albanian Football Federation has not yet issued a statement regarding the fine.
