Oct 8, 2024 – Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced a 20 percent increase in pensions for various categories, effective this month. Speaking alongside Finance Minister Hekuran Murati, Kurti stated that the easing inflation and economic recovery allow for this adjustment.
The increase will benefit over 304,000 pensioners, including those receiving basic age pensions, contributory pensions, and disability pensions. Additionally, from January 2025, pensions for war-related categories, such as veterans and families of martyrs, will also rise by 20 percent.
The total budget impact of this decision will be an additional €100 million. Following this adjustment, the basic age pension will rise to €120, with contributory pensions increasing to €218 for the first category, €237 for the second, €256 for the third, and €318 for the fourth category.
