Oct 30, 2024 – Albania has been ranked first in Europe for the highest growth in international visitors, according to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The country placed second globally, trailing only Qatar, which recently hosted the World Cup.
Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that from January to September 2024, Albania welcomed 9.7 million foreign visitors. This surge reflects a significant recovery in the tourism sector and translates into increased revenue for local businesses.
“This year’s achievement confirms Albania’s position as a rising star in the global tourism market,” Rama stated. He highlighted the diverse range of tourist markets contributing to this growth, emphasizing the potential for further success.
The Prime Minister expressed optimism that this influx of visitors will continue to enhance Albania’s international image and provide economic benefits to families and businesses alike.
